Children as Image Bearers
The bond between father, mother and child reflects the triune God.

1. Jesus _______ children.
“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 19:14 Pg. 976

2. Parents ___________ for children.
P_____________ needs.
P_____________

“9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

3. ________ is the most important relationship in a child’s life.
“34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10: 34-38 Pg.965

4. _____________ teach us how to follow Jesus.
“2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 18:2-4 Pg.974

5. We are the _____________ ____ _______.
“1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:1-2 Pg. 1208

“…for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.” Galatians 3:26 Pg. 1153

Our Family Story – Throughout the Family Project series, we encourage each family of our church to journal your family’s story.
We believe that every family is called to reflect the image of God. No family is perfect, but every family can be redeemed. This series is about redeeming every husband, father, wife, mother, son, daughter, brother and sister within God’s plan for the family.
Spend some time around the family table this week discussing and journaling the following questions:
• Mom and Dad: Spend some time sharing with your children about the day they were born.
• What do children teach us about the Kingdom of Heaven?
• Is Jesus the priority relationship in your home?
• What are some ways our culture devalues children?
• What can our family do to value the children of our community and world?
